OK, another big gap … sorry. Penny is just all that much cuter now - with lots of new moves. I see younger babies and fell like it was a lifetime ago that she looked like that, and did those things - like sleeping on our chests - she used to love that, now she won’t have anything to do with it. Little Chatterbox

Mommy managed to capture a good stretch of Penelope having a chat on film. What’s even cuter is that when you play this video for her, she takes great pleasure in having a conversation with herself. I wonder what she’s saying. Then again it’s probably either MILK or PLAY WITH ME. Either way, she distinctly looks self satisfied after speaking.
Tummy Time Accomplishment!

Penny pulled this trick off for mommy several times without any observers. She proudly came upstairs to show the rest of us (Rob was kind enough to pull out his video camera) - and much to all of our surprise she actually did it again. Looks like we’ve got a performer on our hands.

Penny’s new trick

Some friends got us this swell bouncy seat, and Penelope hasn’t really like it so far (although could be kept occupied for a bit if you turned the seat vibration thing on) but today she seemed to figure out how to get it to rock on her own, which also makes the cute animals swing. An hour of fun for Penny and an hour of cleaning up for mom! Wait… I don’t think I like this deal so much.

Penelope Day 11

My office came over to visit, which was quite fabulous of them, although really guys, did you have to bring details for me to redline? It was also her first (although I doubt her last) experience with the paparazzi - she behaved reasonable well given the large camera in her face.
She had another bath, and didn’t seem to cry nearly as much this time round - either we are figuring something out, or she is already starting to humor her parents.

Penny Update, Day 9

Happy birthday Grandpa!
We had a very nice time at our Mom’s group yesterday, winning the littlest baby by a long shot, and also one of the best behaved babies - Penelope slept the whole time! I was sitting next to a 4 month old (and his mom), and it’s so amazing how awake he was - big open eyes, laughing and giggling, such a difference!
After her nap we are going to take advantage of her love of the Bjorn carrier, and the bright sunny day and take a walk around the neighborhood!

My Nephew Rocks - Literally!

Down in DC this weekend visiting the in-laws, and more importantly, my 2 year old nephew Stewart. After helping my brother-in-law Rob set his drum set back up in their newly (and very nicely!) renovated basement, I discovered just how much Stewart likes the drums… in fact the only thing he seems to like more than playing the drums is watching the video of himself playing said drums.

Merkley Lunch: Phil’s Pizza

Ok, so I’ve been working at Merkley + Partners here on Varick St for a long time (8 years!) and in all that time I’ve never actually set foot in Phil’s Pizza, a tiny box of a place right down the street. While I love pizza, it’s never really been a lunch food for me, and there also happen to be quite a few really good pizza places only a slight bit further away, so until now Phil’s has been unexplored. Movie Review: Get Smart

I wasn’t expecting much from Get Smart, a big screen adaptation of the hit TV series from the 60’s about the super secret American spy agency CONTROL and their never ending battle with arch enemy KAOS. I never really watched the show, and given the usual quality of movie adaptations of TV shows…well let’s just say I was watching this on an airplane for a reason. Potbelly Subs

I’m a huge fan of Potbelly Subs. Head and shoulders above the other sub chains. Sadly, there are none in NYC - and as of yet no immediate plans to expand there (trust me, I checked - and they’re corporate owned not franchise based). The Baby is near!

He/She's much much MUCH bigger than this now...but awww.
Ok, so in case you hadn’t heard, we have a baby on the way. Everything’s been great so far (although the 15 hours of childbirth classes seem like a bit much), at least from my perspective - I’m sure E’s got a slightly different perspective since she’s the one carrying the bowling ball. Anyhow, I’ve been much remiss in posting anything here, but as we get there - March 11th btw (My birthday too…I don’t know if I think that’s a cool thing or a bad thing yet) - I’ll be adding lots of pictures and my take on what the experience is like. After all, it doesn’t sound like there will be much sleep involved. So expect a quasi evolution to baby-centrism to the site in a few months.
Oh - and no, we don’t know the sex.
