Penelope week 11

June 2nd, 2009 · No Comments · Baby, The Eleanor

I really need to be better at this updating thing. Day 11 to Week 11. A lot happened in between. We went to Washington DC a couple times, and Florida, and Penny kept getting cuter and cuter. But I am going to focus on the past week.

So in the last week we got back from LA and Penelopes 2nd flight. LA was lots of fun, we took her to some very nice lunches - Sushi Zo and Pizzeria Mozza, she behaved well for both and mommy and daddy got yummy food. And she went for her first swim - I think she liked it - at least she didn’t complain about it. And she does like her bath time - the warm water is fun, although she doesn’t like getting out and drying off. She also had her first play date, with Kara, and they actually seemed to play a little. At least they cooed back and forth some, and Kara chewed on Penny’s fist and Penny chewed on Kara’s hair. Much fun was had by all. Especially the parents. The flight back was good - we had the middle seat empty, and she spent a couple of enjoyable hours just staring at the ceiling.

On Saturday we visited with Sarah, Amanda, Eli and Angela - a fun trip to the playground! And then Andrew and Dara and Miles came to visit, we all went to the park and enjoyed lunch. Penny’s first picnic, but not her last. And not her last playdate with Miles either! On Sunday we went out to Long Island, and went to a very nice BBQ, and Penny got to spend some time with her Grandma Dorothy and Auntie Liz!

Yesterday was my first day back at work, though I was only there for an hour, but Penelope did quite well and let mommy get some work done. Hopefully she will continue to like it and behave well. Today we went in for our second immunization, which she did quite  well for, only fussed and cried a little. And she is 10lb 10oz, (25th Percent) 24.25″ (90th Percent). Officially a long lean baby.

She definitly seems to be getting control of her hands, at least sometimes. She chews on her fist (or finger, or thumb) a fair amount, though she still likes her binkie as well. And she seems to be able to bring her hands to her mouth to chew on, as opposed to just chewing on them when they are there. Its a work in progress, but she seems to be progressing fast. She likes chewing on her bear as well, and tried to chew on her big ball rattle yesterday. Time to get some teething toys, even if she isnt teething quite yet. And last night she managed to scooch herself from the center of her crib 90 deg around and all the way to the slates. What an active little girl! Her sleeping is pretty good, often she will go from about 9 to 12, when I nurse her (hopefully without waking her up) and then through to 5 or 6, then up every hour to 2 hours until we are up for the day. After we get up is one of her best times of the day - chatty and happy and playful - that lasts for about an hour, when it is time for her morning nap, which generally takes place in the BabyBjorn. The rest of the day varies a lot, depending on what there is too do - she will usually have 1 more big nap in the afternoon (also often in the Bjorn) and cat nap here and there. Fussy time can happen between 7 and 9, but not always. I am still trying to figure if anything triggers it. All in all she is a very happy, very alert little girl.
