Penelope - Week 12

Wow, 12 weeks. Wacky. I both can’t believe its been that long, and think its only been 12 weeks? It seems like much longer, and not long at all. This past week was a busy one, as they all seem to have been.
On Tuesday she got her second vaccine. She cried, she fussed, she got over it and did pretty well all things being equal. On Wednesday we had a very big adventure - it was her Aunt Liz’s 21st birthday, so we had to celebrate! We headed up north of the city to Blue Hill Stone Barns for dinner. Tres tasty. And Penny stayed with her friend Miles and his folks, who were kind enough to look after her. I am not sure what was up, but she was not the angel I know she can be - its sounds like she really got her fuss on. Thank you Dara and Andrew! And Miles, for sharing your folks for the night! Over the weekend we went to DC again to visit Alison and Rob and little Stewart. It was great to see them all. Stewart is such a sweetie to Penelope - he really liked her giraffe teether toy and would happily play with it, but as soon as he saw her he would bring it over to her. She still really doesn’t like the car seat though, didn’t fuss the whole way, but it doesn’t take much screaming to make a trip seem very long. Hopefully she will grow into it soon. And maybe we will consider the train in the future.
She isn’t chatting as much this week, but is playing with her hands a bunch, and her feet as well. Little monkey girl. She likes to grab things more and more each day, and is increasing good and finding things to grab. Sometimes its my shirt, or my back when I am holding her - that is cute. Sometimes it is a great fistful of my hair - that is less cute. She is set in her morning walk/nap in the Bjorn, but we are working on the afternoon and evening nap in the crib, or at least in the stroller. As I write this she is in her bassinet in the bedroom very quietly cooing herself to sleep - way to self soothe! Now, can we work on the staying asleep part?
