Well, definitely a rough morning. Far too much cheap cava last night and an early rise from Penny – not a good combination. I struggled through the morning a bit while Eleanor slept in, and then we swapped off and she very kindly let me get a much needed nap.
After they returned, we headed off to do some shopping and head over to La Boqueria for some “crack” juice and tapas from the bars there. Some delicious tapas and juice later, I was definitely feeling much more human, and penny was getting tired, so we wandered our way back to the apartment for a much needed 3 person afternoon siesta.
The rest of the afternoon went by quite quickly, with some shopping by both of us, including what I thought to be a travesty of finding an art gallery that had a piece I quite liked but closed before I could find Eleanor to share, but thankfully we decided to just pop by on the off chance, and indeed their door was open a crack and they were happy to let us in and consider the art en masse. We’re still considering the piece overnight, but we’ll talk to the gallery owner when we return home tomorrow and decide. Exciting to consider at te very least though.
After feeding penny some pasta carbonara from a local take away eatery (that she loved…I can’t believe how much of it she ate!) and putting her to bed, she fell asleep just in time for the sitter to arrive, as for our last night here we were heading out to the uber-swank Abac restaurant (two michelin stars).
The meal was wonderful and interestingly molecular, and again I’ll do a full writeup on optionalstaircase when we get back, but for now, it’s 1:45am on our final night here. We’ve got a 7:51 train in the morning to the airport, so I bid Barcelona and wakefulness a fond farewell for now.
